Cutting Stencil With Tangential Emulation

Most of us don't give tangential emulation a second thought, but it's the first thing we need to look for when purchasing a cutter. Simply put, tangential emulation allows drag-knife cutters to emulate, or fake, the sharp tangent created by a knife that is lifted clear of the stencil and rotated to form a 90-degree angle.

At Design Mart we use tangential emulation cutters exclusively to ensure clean cuts on lettering and intricate carving. The image shown here displays two lines of text. The one with the clean, sharp corners was cut with a stencil cutter employing tangential emulation, while the one with the slightly rounded corners was made with a basic drag-knife cutter.

We offer new and used tangential emulation stencil cutters from $4,000 to $9,000. We'll be glad to answer your questions and help you add or replace equipment.  Please email d-mart@designmart.com or call us toll-free at 800-736-7455.
